The first badge earned by a Cub Scout of any age is the Bobcat badge. Once a scout has earned this badge he can work on the rank appropriate to their age group or year in school.

The Arrow of Light award is the highest award that can be earned in Cub Scouting. It is the only Cub Scout award that can be earned as a Webelos then carried over to be worn on the uniform of a Boy Scout or an adult leader.

Crossing over is a major event in the early Scouting experience. It is the point where a Webelos Scout becomes a Boy Scout. This usually takes place in a special "Crossing Over" ceremony in the Spring or Summer of the second year as a Webelos Scout.
